Dearborn County Upgrading Bridges

Dearborn County was announced February 11, 2020 as the recipient of a $1.6 million federal transportation grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The grant, for which One Dearborn provided a letter of support in 2019, will pay for 80 percent of the cost to replace Bridge 33 on North Hogan Road near Aurora with a newer, better, safer bridge structure.

"As a Major Connector Road, North Hogan Road is vitally important for many commuters in the southern portion of our county, as evidenced by its use of around 310 vehicles per day, according to a 2018 inspection," One Dearborn wrote in its letter of support. "Many of our residents use this road to access Indiana state highways 350 or 148 to U.S. 50, where many of them travel to work, shop, and eat – of course supporting our local economy, specifically in the historic community of Aurora, Indiana. Equally importantly, this road serves as a quick access road for EMS and fire safety personnel to the homes and businesses in the area."
