In 2017, Dearborn County’s private businesses, public officials and not-for-profit leaders came together to create a vision for the future. One Dearborn, Inc. was born out of this collaboration which included a commitment to deploy more resources with a targeted focus on economic and community development, planning, and implementation.
VISION
Dearborn County envisions itself as a vibrant and prosperous gateway into Southeast Indiana, leveraging its prime location within the greater metropolitan region to drive community growth and elevate quality of life. By building upon and preserving our core assets—pristine rural landscapes, thriving outdoor recreation, and the charm of our small, historic downtowns—we strive to create a welcoming and flourishing environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike. Maximizing Our Strategic Location
We will enhance our role as a gateway between Cincinnati and northern Kentucky into and out of Indiana, fostering thoughtful development, promoting infill and revitalization, and supporting sustainable rural growth in western Dearborn County.
Expanding Outdoor Recreation
With our breathtaking hilltops, landscapes, and rivers as natural assets, we will invest in amenities, extensive trails, and park enhancements to support these assets, positioning our region as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts and a retreat to simpler living.
Preserving and Enhancing Community Charm
Our vibrant riverfront cities and peaceful rural towns offer a distinctive way of life. We will focus on placemaking and historic preservation in our downtowns to ensure our communities remain attractive, vibrant, and desirable places to live, work, and visit.

The creation of the 2018 and 2024 action and investment plans were the start of an enhanced Dearborn County-wide collaboration—following One Dearborn’s organizational approach model pictured here—that has supported our current momentum and shared success. These plans were developed with extensive input from a wide range of stakeholders, including citizens, local governments, institutions, non-profits, and employers.
MISSION
One Dearborn, Inc. aims to develop, implement and continually update our countywide economic development strategy. We aspire to be a conduit, collaborator and catalyst in bringing about desired economic growth and prosperity for all citizens and communities. We look forward to our work aligning with local stakeholders and regional objectives. Further, for long term success in a global economy, it is essential that we engage in regional planning, along with cross boundary programs and strategies.
