AURORA, Ind. (December 2, 2020) – Small Business Saturday November 28th was celebrated with four ribbons cuttings held in downtown Aurora. The ribbon cuttings sponsored by Main Street Aurora were in celebration of the 2nd floor expansion of Krypto’s Comix, 311 Second Street; and the opening of The Aurora Diner, 339 Second Street; Big Indian Woodworking, 406 Second Street; and Norwood Custom Glass Studio, 511 Second Street. The four ribbon cuttings Saturday brought the total of new businesses opening in downtown Aurora during 2020 to ten.

In addition to the new businesses there were two business name changes in 2020; Beau Austin’s 2nd St Cuts changed to Mik’s 2nd St Cuts after the business was purchased by Mikayla Heckman and Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant changed its name to Alejandra’s Mexican Restaurant in memory of beloved Alejandra Aguero-Vazquez.

“We were devastated to lose three businesses earlier in the Spring due to COVID19; Art Angels, Geneva’s Quilts and Smokin Otis BBQ & Wings as well as the August relocation of Fancy Pets Dog Grooming due to a Lawrenceburg established business purchase” said Nancy Fahey Turner, Executive Director.

Future ribbon cuttings will be for Alejandra’s Mexican Restaurant, 301 Second Street; Farmers Insurance, 502 Second Street as well as J. Miller Steak Company, 211 Second Street.
