In December 2024, Dearborn County achieved a remarkable milestone: being named an Indiana Stellar Pathways Designee. But this victory wasn’t achieved overnight—it was the result of a bold vision set in motion in 2018 with the creation of the One Dearborn Regional Economic Development Action Plan.
Back in 2018, citizens and organizations from across the county came together, united by a shared purpose: to make Dearborn County a place where quality of life and economic opportunity thrive. Recognizing national trends of employers prioritizing communities with strong workforces, our citizens and leaders focused on quality of place and life. Among a solid set of goals outlined in the plan was one to become a Stellar Community—a vision that encouraged collaboration, guided progress, and laid the groundwork for Dearborn County’s successful pursuit of the Stellar designation in 2024.
Fast forward to today, and we see the incredible impact of the 2018 Action Plan across our county:
19 projects completed.
25 more well underway.
Transformational initiatives that include downtown revitalization, expanded parks and trails, and innovative housing solutions.
Now, as an Indiana’s newest Stellar designee, Dearborn County is ready to take this progress even further. The Stellar Pathways initiative will supercharge our efforts, enabling us to invest in transformational projects across Greendale, Dillsboro, and Bright. These investments will create vibrant downtowns, enhance outdoor recreation, and meet housing demands—all while preserving the small-town charm and natural beauty that make Dearborn County unique.
